One of the great opportunities of summer camp is the chance to explore the outdoors. Cedar is located near the ocean, mountains, lakes and rivers. Our tripping program ranges from a short hike in the forest around camp looking for moose or deer tracks to 4-day wilderness trips on the Appalachian Trail and Baxter State Park. We have a team of day trip staff who lead short hikes, nature and canoe trips. Our overnight trips team lead more extensive trips. Some of their options include; rock climbing, white water rafting, canoeing and hiking trips exploring some of the great Maine and New Hampshire wilderness. All our boys go on regular trips during the summer with more and longer options becoming available as they get older.
To introduce our younger campers to tripping, we have three "outpost" camps on our property. In one, the boys campout in tents. In another, they spend a night in a lean-to by the lake, and in the third, the boys sleep out in a giant tee-pee after a cookout and a story.
